- Summary
- Reporter Jon Alpert investigates health care for the poor. Two institutions in Brooklyn, Kings County Hospital and Downstate Medical Center are compared. Kings County's emergency room is the nation's busiest; at Downstate, a teaching institution, insured patients get state-of-the-art care without waiting. Kings County is inadequately staffed and poorly equipped due to constant budget cuts. A death, caused in part by medical equipment failure, personalizes the tape's message. In part two, physicians discuss the issues raised in part one. (This tape is also available in 3/4 in. format).
