- Summary
- In this drama, 16-year-old Scott Fischer learns that he has the AIDS virus, received through a blood transfusion. Scott becomes the focus of media attention and is asked to leave school, as panicky district officials try to formulate a response to his exposure. His girlfriend's family, close friends of the Fischers, cancel a joint summer trip and forbid Karen to see Scott. Into this emotionally charged situation steps Dr. Robinson, chief immunologist at the local hospital. With patience and compassion, she explains the facts about AIDS to Scott, his parents, his schoolmates and the school board.
