"This 12-hour cinema verite documentary series chronicled seven months of day-to-day life of the William C. Loud family of Santa Barbara, California. Recorded during those seven months were such sensitive moments as the parents' divorce and the eldest son's homosexual lifestyle. Broadcast on PBS during Jan.-Feb.-March of 1973, the series created a controversy that captured the attention of the American public and soon made the Loud family media celebrities."
