- Summary
- This non-narrated film, in five sequences, documents the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon. The Painted desert--The Painted Desert is seen through the eyes of a hawk flying overhead. An almost endless skyline of plateaus, buttes, cliffs and buttresses is presented. Sunrise--From the rim of the Grand Canyon, the amphitheater, with its many pinnacles, is viewed. With the coming of the sun, colors change and a rainbow sparkles in the mist. The Colorado River flows turbulently and peacefully. On the trail--A bobcat walks to the edge of the canyon. A bird darts here and there. A tarantula walks across the rocks. Cloudburst--Clouds cast their shadows. Lightning flashes. After the storm, winter brings snow. Sunset and finale--The snow-covered landscape shimmers in the sunlight. A search for food. The coming of spring brings desert wildflowers. An eagle soars over the Canyon. The music mounts to its dramatic finale as the desert sunset fills the sky.
