- Summary
- Martin is embarassed at having to wear a hearing aid. When he refuses to use it during a rehearsal for the school play, Rachel becomes furious with him and storms out. The other children's concern for Martin leads to an honest exchange which resolves his fear of being treated with pity rather than friendship. Rachel's classmates are unaware that her behavior stems from her dissatisfaction with her overweight appearance. Ironically, it is Martin's mother who helps her realize how foolish she has been.
