- Summary
- Four vignettes using traditional music and costumes from Chinese opera. 1. A fairy tale - the legend of the monkey king and the jade emperor, in which all the gods punish the monkey for eating the forbidden fruit. 2. A comedy ballet of errors - an innkeeper tries to kill a sleeping highwayman in the dark. 3. A beauteous lady - while enroute on a journey, a beautiful lady is finally transported across the river in an imaginary punt.
