Summary
A portrait of Fannie Lou Hamer, a Black sharecropper from Mississippi who mobilized change and political participation for Blacks in the South. Hamer recollects the 1960's civil rights movement in Mississippi and the creation of the Mississippi Democratic Freedom Party (MDFP). Actress-dancer Debbie Allen narrates this collage of footage, drawings and interviews with Hamer and other veterans of the civil rights movement.
