- Translation from Chinese by Peter Harris of an episode from Hsi yü chi, an allegorical, satirical novel written during the Ming Dynasty in the sixteenth century and published in English as Journey to the West, and Monkey. As Monkey accompanies the monk Tripitaka to India they meet a king disillusioned with Buddhism because of the power of three wizards. Monkey, with his supernatural powers, challenges the three wizards to a series of spectacular magic contests.
