- Description
- 1 film reel (11 min.) : sd., col.; 16 mm.
- Summary
- Two youngsters accompany Dr. Ian Stirling of the Canadian Wildlife Services on a polar bear tagging expedition to Tuktoyaktuk in Canada's Northwest Territories. A polar bear is observed from the air and on the ground after it has been tranquilized. Stirling weighs and measures the animal and extracts a tooth in order to determine the bear's age. This program has been undertaken to track and preserve the number of polar bears in the wild and to determine how many may be hunted by the region's Inuit people who depend on the bear for survival.
