Description
3 film reels (114 min.) : sd., col.; 16 mm.
Summary
Visually stark and innovative in its use of sound, this film is the story of a young shepherd growing up on the island of Sardinia in isolation and under the terrifying domination of a brutal father. Deprived of company and language until age 20, the young man is initially exposed to education and the company of others during military service. The Tavianis' film is based on the autobiography of Gavino Ledda who rose above impoverished circumstances to become a professor of linguistics. (Does not circulate).
