Summary
Shot with a hand-held camera and recorded with a portable microphone, this film contains interviews between director Emile de Antonio and such artists as Willem de Kooning, Robert Rauschenberg, Helen Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns, Robert Motherwell and Andy Warhol who discuss their theories about abstract expressionism in terms of the whole modern art movement. The director also talks with art critics, dealers and owners who assume their roles as the "real" leaders of contemporary art. Artists and critics are filmed in black and white, art objects in color.
