- Summary
- Read our lips, your racist policies gotta go: Young reporters from DCTV's Summer Youth Employment Program cover an employees' strike of the Shin-wa Japanese restaurant on 51st street in New York City. The picketers protest management's practice of withholding tips from their Asian and Latino workers. Among those lending support to the strikers are young people from Project Reach, an organization committed to eradicating sexism, racism and homophobia and activists with the Chinese Staff Workers Association, a labor-rights advocacy group for restaurant, garment and construction workers. The latter organization is also shown as they go to various construction sites attempting to secure jobs for their constituents. Benji's family on wheels: Benji Garced is the owner of a skateboard shop and surrogate father to a group of neighborhood skateboarding enthusiasts whom he tries to keep out of trouble.
