- Summary
- New York's Third Avenue extends from Brooklyn through Manhattan and into the Bronx. This tape presents six portraits of people who live there. Italian-Americans Sonny and Eddie run a father-and-son junkyard in Brooklyn; Joe Bonneville is an alcoholic derelict on the Bowery who makes a futile attempt to return to his wife. Trudy is a Black single mother of five living on welfare in the Bronx. Ricky works as a male hustler on 53rd Street and Third Avenue. Raul Lopez is a factory worker and daily churchgoer who struggles to keep the youngest of his seven children from the negative influence of the streets. Al Pascone struggles to keep the Brooklyn barbershop he has run for decades.
