- Summary
- Set in San Francisco in the 1970's, this documentary film charts the rise to power of Harvey Milk, one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States and one of the gay rights movement's most powerful activists. The film opens in flashback to the television announcement by Dianne Feinstein (then president of the Board of Supervisors) that both Mayor George Mascone and Supervisor Harvey Milk had been shot and killed. The assassin was Dan White, fellow Supervisor, former policeman and fireman. Milk's journey to the events of November 27, 1978 is recounted through TV news footage and interviews with friends and colleagues.
