- Summary
- A current issue confronting inner city youth and adults today is police brutality. Members of the EVC team conduct on-the-street interviews regarding police misconduct and review recent cases of police brutality. Representatives from the Center for Law and Social Justice and the Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project comment on the rise of police brutality cases. Instructors at the New York Police Department Academy attribute this to exaggerated media coverage. Activists call for reform of the Civilian Complaint Review Board and offer practical advice to young people on how to avoid adverse encounters with police.
