Summary
Frank, an Aborigine who lives on a remote outstation, faces a quandry when his elder brother dies and an essential funerary service must be held, the success of which is dependent upon the number of people who attend. The elusive "Harry," who resides in town, is responsible for bringing a number of mourners to the ceremony. If he fails to do so, Frank must shoulder the blame alone. Embroiled in this tense situation is Frank's anthropologist friend, Les Hiatt, who is asked to go in search of Harry. As the mourners wait apprehensively for the rest of their contingent, they make necessary preparations, including painting themselves and the hollow log coffin which will hold the remains of their deceased relative.
