Summary
In the Henry James novel, Maisie is a girl of five or six who becomes increasingly aware of how the sexual entanglements of the adults she depends on affect her life. In Mangolte's cinematic interpretation, Maisie is represented by the camera presence and perception. The camera is used to objectify a vision which is descriptive of the character Maisie. This vision is presented through a succession of narrative tableaux, composed of various everyday situations. (Does not circulate)
