- Summary
- Tom Wolfe, the eminent and controversial social critic, examines Americans through their architecture and big city skyscrapers. Accompanied by correspondant Morley Safer, Wolfe singles out New York City skyscrapers for derision and decries the American flattop skyscraper as derivative of European architecture of the 1920's. Wolfe points to the growing homogenization of American cities by architects reminding us that architecture reflects a society.
