- Summary
- Driving his wildly decorated VW bug across the U.S., filmmaker Harrod Blank embarked on a decade-long personal exploration into the world of Car Art. During the course of his travels, he found a treasure-trove of 45 bizarrely embellished vehicles: a brass hippo on wheels, a car covered in grass, and an automobile shaped like a spaceship. For the creators of these mobile artworks, artistic expression is co-mingled with other personal concerns. One man attached 1400 toy horses onto his Buick Skylark to recover from alcoholism. Another man, suffering from extreme insomnia, covered his car, suit, and guitar with buttons.
