- Summary
- Set in the mid-nineteenth century, this adaptation of the Twain novel is centered solely on the adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Learning that his drunken father is back in town, Huck plans to flee his guardians the Widow Douglas and her sister Miss Watson before Pap finds him. Unfortunately, he is too late; Pap kidnaps the boy and takes him to a cabin deep in the woods. Escaping through the chimney and feigning his own death, the ever-resourceful Huck meets up with Jim, one of Miss Watson's slaves, who has run off rather than be sold to a slave trader in New Orleans. The two head down the Mississippi River, hoping to reach the "free" state of Ohio. After various adventures, they are waylaid by two mountebanks, the Duke and the King, who recognize Jim from posters.
