Summary
Kodiak Island, Alaska is the site of a repeated cycle of survival. Each year, Alaskan brown bears and bald eagles gather to await the arrival of millions of Pacific salmon to swim upstream to lay their eggs and die. The giant Alaskan brown bear is the salmon's greatest predator. Weighing as much as 1400 pounds and growing to 9 feet tall, the bears are surprisingly quick and agile when catching the salmon. Predator and prey adhere to the roles assigned to them by nature. The dying salmon give life to bear cubs and baby eagles.
