- Description

- Summary
- Jacques Cousteau and the Calypso team document the behavior of the octopus in its natural habitat on the floor of the Mediterranean Sea. Their observations debunk the common myth of the octopus as a gigantic, vicious monster and reveal it to be a shy, intelligent sea creature. The program probes the defense mechanisms, locomotion, eating habits, camouflage and mating behavior of the octopus. It presents experiments designed to test the intelligence of this marine animal and analyzes the octopus' successful adaptation to living without a shell.
