- When his father receives a fellowship to teach in America, a young Icelandic boy goes to live with relatives in Reykjavik, leaving behind the farm and his beloved Icelandic sheep dog. His anger at his father and his frustration at the city people's fear of and prohibition against dogs causes him to run away when he hears of a man in the country breeding Icelandic dogs.
