- Summary
- Daniel Guilet, concertmaster of the NBC Symphony Orchestra from 1950 to 1954, played under Toscanini in Paris in the 30es on a few occasions, and quickly realized how different maestro was from all the conductors, how perfect and somehow always right. He had, as Guilet puts it, "greatness in heart" that can not be taught and which comes from the genius of the Italian people with their high sense of artistry, beauty, elegance, musicality and drama. And Toscanini was the king of them all.
