Pforzheimer copy: Formerly owned by John Fowles; with his bookplate, his signature on the title-page, a note in his hand on the front paste-down, his pasted-in printed label reading, "One of the weird and petty fragments that washed up on my beach," his scorings and note on p. 101, and three computer printer labels used to secure the front fly-leaf, apparently adhered by Fowles. -- Previously owned by George Blackmore of Exmouth, with his ownership stencil. -- Bound first of two posthumous Strutt works; with: The bumpkin's disaster. London: Appleyards, 1808. Bound together subsequent to publication in half calf with marbled boards and gilt spine-titling.
