Tina Fehlandt speaks with Deborah Jowitt about meeting Mark Morris in 1977; her impressions of Mark Morris; studying with Marjorie Mussman; working on various pieces such as "Brummagem", "Castor and Pollux", "Barstow"; rehearsals; making the shift from ballet to modern dance; Hannah Kahn as a teacher; Nora Reynolds; Mark Morris's choreographic process; how every dancer learned every part of each dance; her physicality; the emphasis on musicality; "Gloria" at BAM in 1984; becoming the Mark Morris Dance Group; early performances the Group had in 1981 and 1982; performing in Seattle; genesis of "Lovey"; being in Europe with the Mark Morris Dance Group in 1985; the expansion of the group for the residency in Belgium; the Belgian response to the group; returning from Brussels and touring; working with Mikhail Baryshnikov in Brussels; the White Oak Dance Project; leaving the group in 2000; teaching; staging Mark Morris's dances.
