- Summary
- Music critic Tim Page interviews American composer, pianist and teacher Charles Wuorinen. Wuorinen speaks about contemporary music, and about the increased interest in all kinds of it. He talks about electronic music, but he says that he does not believe that it will replace traditional musical instruments. He also comments on whether he sees a connection to the music we listen to now and early music. He speaks also about the connection between composers and performers, and says that composers provide very general instructions to performers, and expect a wide variety of interpretations from them. The composer discusses his Percussion symphony, and excerpts from this symphony are played during his interview. At the end of the interview he gives advice to young composers.
