Summary
In this fifth and final program in the series Lyrics and lyricists (1972), librettist and lyricist Dorothy Fields speaks about her career as a songwriter. After a brief introduction, Fields gives a short survey of her work for the musical theater and describes important principles of writing lyrics, her influences and mentors, favorite lyric writers, and work habits. She and various singers perform excerpts from the musicals for which she wrote the lyrics.
