- 269 prints : lithograph, b&w, col.; 45 x 36 cm. or smaller.
- Summary
- Created for a proposed but never published livre d'artiste on the theme of Sherlock Holmes. Subjects are chiefly portraits of Sherlock Holmes, Watson and other characters from the Sherlock Holmes novels and stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Include several depicting the Hound of the Baskervilles.
- Include trial proofs, overprinted trial proofs, state proofs, annotated proofs (many "unique"), including variant color combinations and hand additions, on various papers. Chiefly inscribed on verso with state information, etc.
- Housed with several apparently unrelated prints, including 24 impressions of a rainbow lithograph, of which 10 are initialed in pencil and inscribed "A/p, 1972," and 2 mixed media prints combining etching and lithography, depicting respectively a toothbrush (1973; cf. Jim Dine prints, 1970-1977, no. 106); and a skull (signed in pencil and inscribed "1994. Unique proof. Vienna").
