- Note
- José Limón teaches an advanced dance class on Aug. 21, 1951(tracks 1-6) and a beginning dance class on Aug. 22, 1951 (tracks 7-14), at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, in Lee, Mass. The recording consists primarily of piano music and Limón's instructions, comments, and counting. The voice of a woman (possibly Carol Lynn) specifying movements and counting can sometimes be heard; she also announces the date at the start of the beginning class.
- Sound quality is fair to very poor. The recording is distorted, and there are both occasional short gaps and muffled sections. In general, the sound quality of tracks 1-6 is better than that of tracks 7-14.
