Writer, novelist, anthropologist, Manuel Zapata Olivella was one of the most prominent Afro-Colombian figures of the 20th century. Starting on a journey through his life and works, this documentary deals with several fundamental aspects of this versatile and prolifice personage, centered in two particular subjects: the first one has to do with his research works and the promotion and dissemination of the traditional Colombian culture; the second one focuses on his literary contributions to the vindication and the visibility of the typical culture and history of Negroes in the American continent.
