- At head of title: First night of the new grand romantick opera. Theatre Royal, English Opera House, Strand. The success of The Spring Lock was complete; and its reception marked throughout by the unanimous applause and laughter of a crowded audience. -- It will be repeated every evening until further notice. The present expected. The new melo-drama of The Witness, continuing to receive loud and unanimous applause, will be repeated on Friday. The popular piece of The Sister of Charity, to-morrow and Saturday next.
- The opera of Der Vampyr is based on J. Polidori's 1819 novella, "The Vampyre," and H. L. Ritter's 1821 play, Der Vampyr oder die Todten-Braut (cf. J. G. Melton's Vampire book, p. 287).
