- Biography
- Artist and designer, born in Helena, Montana, Dahler attended art school in New York City and established a studio there. In the 1920s he was a set designer for Broadway shows and worked for Judge, a humor magazine. The Lewisohn sisters, Alice and Irene, were the founders of the Neighborhood Playhouse, a theater and teaching facility for dance and drama that began as part of the Henry Street Settlement on New York City's Lower East Side in 1915. By 1920, professional actors replaced the amateur troupe of children and adults, and the Playhouse became known for its avante-garde productions. The neighborhood theater closed in 1927, but was revived the following year as The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
