Summary
Documentary on the workings of a British ballet company, with many views behind the scenes. Three young dancers from the English National Ballet describe, in their own words, a typical dancer's life. Members of the company's support staff, including stage technicians, repetiteur, physiotherapist, costumer, wig mistress, and stage manager talk briefly about their functions and concerns. The documentary includes scenes from company classes, rehearsals, and performances of Christopher Hampson's Nutcracker; some dance sequences are shown in slow motion. It concludes with a dancer's-eye view of a performance of The Nutcracker, from arrival at the theatre to final curtain calls.
