The Albert Shaw Papers contain correspondence (professional and personal); files concerning the books, articles, and speeches Shaw authored, administrative records and articles from the Review of Reviews; and many records of Shaw's personal life, including financial records, scrapbooks, photographs, ephemera, and his notes on the Shaw family's genealogy, as well as Shaw's personal memoirs. Materials range in date from 1827 to 1953, with the majority of the records falling between 1890 and 1947.

  • Albert Shaw (1857-1947) was an editor, journalist and scholar who spent most of his career as the editor and publisher of the Review of Reviews, a digest of progressive thought and political analysis. Shaw's principal interests were the improvement of municipal government, the relationship of business and organized labor, agricultural reform, international affairs, and contemporary politics and economics, topics which he wrote and spoke on frequently.
