- In France, the new music field is as diverse and hard to pin down as it is here. On this editon of New Sounds, host John Schaefer features the music of Richard Vimal, whose electronic works contain echoes of Satie and other French masters; Pascal Comelade, who puts toy instruments to effective, atmospheric use; Michel Portal, who combines jazz and African or Near Eastern music; and several composers from Brittany, France's Celtic province; includes the radio debutof a new piece performed live in the studio by guitarist Dan Ar Bras.
