- Note
- Title from cover.
- V. Vale, who worked at City Lights Bookstore (San Francisco) in the early 1970s, was the publisher of Search and Destroy.
- Vale named the magazine after the famous Iggy Pop/Stooges song, and the back page of the first issue features a photographic portrait of Iggy Pop as "The Idiot." The lyrics to the title song appear below the portrait. Iggy Pop also appears in later issues. Other Punk notables featured and/or interviewed include Patti Smith, The Ramones, Devo, The Clash, The Damned, Jordan, Sex Pistols, Dead Boys, Nico, Suicide, Sid Vicious, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Dead Kennedys, and Siouxsie, as well as Punk muses such as Russ Meyer, J.G. Ballard, William S. Burroughs, John Waters, and David Lynch.
- Issue no. 10 contains an interview of William S. Burroughs by Ray Rumor (p. 19) and an interview of J.G. Ballard by Jon Savage (p. 20-21).
