- Summary
- This volume served as the logbook of two ships and contain entries made by Edward Roberts (3rd officer) from April 10, 1835-April 1, 1836. From April 10-November 13, 1835, Roberts kept the logbook on board the British convict ship "Mangles," commanded by Captain William Carr. The ship traveled from Deptford (part of London) to Portsmouth, continuing to Hobart, Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania), where a company of soldiers, convicts, and some of the passengers disembarked before the ship proceeded to Timor and Lombok, Dutch East India. The logbook lists passengers, crew, and prisoners.
