- Shaw wrote this article for The Leader Magazine, and it was published on November 25, 1944. The article is a tribute to his old friend Lady Astor ("that meteoric phenomenon, unique in English public life, called Nancy Astor"), the first woman M.P. to take her seat in Parliament. Shaw surveys the history of feminism, describing the contributions of numerous activists for the cause, political and literary, including himself.
