- Out of Sickness was the only novel published by Neville Woodbury Limited. Among the firms' other few titles was an illustrated work by Barrington, published under his own name, called Art and Anatomy, and Neville Woodbury's own A Guide to Designing Windows, advertised on the back of the Out of Sickness dust jacket.

- "John Paignton" was the pseudonym of John S. Barrington. Out of Sickness is his only novel. In the late 1950s he became better known as the self-publisher, editor, and photographer-in-chief of homoerotic magazines such as Manifique!
