  • First scroll: Consists of a preliminary calligraphic inscription (on sheet 32 x 71 cm.), a single continuous image (ca. 35 x 306 cm.), and a calligraphic colophon (on sheet 39 x 82 cm.), followed by additional blank sheets, in traditional Chinese handscroll format. The whole is mounted on backing paper and on white silk; rolled over a glass rod and attached at beginning to blue silk wrapper, which is secured with an emboidered silk ribbon and a carved bone toggle. The entire scroll unrolls to ca. 44 x 975 cm. Image is hand-printed from ca. 500 pearwood woodblocks with Chinese watercolor ink on xuan zhi paper, created from blue sandalwood bark and bamboo and straw flbers.   • Deluxe copies are accompanied by a second scroll, which contains the image and the colophon only, on paper (sheet is ca. 40 x 390 cm.).
