- "John Cage composed these words about the history, collaboration and spirit of The first meeting of the Satie Society upon the completion of the presents in 1992. The string for the mesostics ... is The first meeting of the Satie Society. Merce Cunningham has made pen and ink drawings of musical notation, on one side of the three panels, as an accompaniment to John Cage's words"--The first meeting of the Satie Society, c1994, leaf 11; cf. leaves 8-10 for text of the mesostics.
- "[With] pen and ink drawings by Merce Cunningham. One to five drawings were made on each of the three panels as determined by chance operations. The artist has drawn one to five notes on any given musical staff, with the number also being determined by chance. The drawings were positioned horizontally, vertically or diagonally by chance ... The type used is foundry Futura Book cast at Fundición Tipográfica Neufville. The type was hand set at Horton Tank Graphics. The type has been printed by Daniel Keleher at Wild Carrot Letterpress. The paper was hand made by Paul Wong and Sharon Durr at Dieu Donné, from linen rag. The three panels were assembled by Kim O'Donnell at Garthegaat Bindery"--The first meeting of the Satie Society, c1994, p. [4] at end.
