Stanley H. Lowell, Secretary/Treaurer and Trustee of the New York Shakespeare Festival, (and formerly Deputy Mayor of New York City under Robert Wagner) speaks about his association with Joseph Papp and the New York Shakespeare Festival. Lowell tells the story of how Papp approached him regarding the start of the NYSF in 1956, and Papp's struggles against Robert Moses. The financial position and budget of NYSF (in 1987) is mentioned.
