- In the interview with Robert Marx, former director of the Library for the Performing Arts, a renowned American mezzo-soprano talks about her childhood and schooling in the Bronx, vocal training with Rosalie Miller, the beginning of her successful career, roles she sang in various venues including Metropolitan Opera, participation in and mixed feelings about Bayreuth Festival so soon after the war, her famous dramatic ability, gradual transition from soprano to mezzo-soprano with the help of her new teacher Giuseppe Danise, and her career as a mezzo-soprano.
