- Summary
- American actor of stage and screen and tenor vocalist Mandy Patinkin speaks about his Jewish family background, the beginning of his acting career and his experience working with Joseph Papp, who offered him his first professional job on a New York stage during the New York Shakespeare Festival in the 1970's. He talks about his relationships with Joseph Papp that strarted professionaly as a theatrical producer/director-performer, and led to their long-term friendship, and with other cast and production members such as casting director Rosemarie Tichler. He also discusses Papp's role as founder and director of the New York Shakespeare Festival Public Theater and the origins of Papp's project to produce free Shakespeare productions in Central Park as well.
