- Summary
- African American dramatist, actor and director Charles Gordone discusses his background, his career as a playwright and his experience working with Joseph Papp on his first major work "No place to be somebody" that opened at the New York Shakespeare Festival Public Theatre, moved to ANTA Theatre in 1969 and to Off-Broadway in 1970, and for which he received the 1970 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. He also discusses such topics as self identification as a black artist and the role that black artists play in music and drama.
