Summary

Zvi Gotheiner discusses growing up in Israel on a kibbutz; playing the violin; and his career as a dancer, choreographer and teacher in Israel and New York City. [During 10 min. segment in English from 17 min. to 27 min.] Gotheiner talks about performing with the Joyce Trisler Dance Company, Garden State Ballet, Eliot Feld [Feld Ballets/NY], and Batsheva Dance Company; creating a dance collective with six other dancers and performing in Israel and New York; starting his own company, ZviDance, in New York City in 1989; creating a choreographic work for The Joyce Theater in 1992; creating works about form and content; being influenced by Jerome Robbins, Jiri Kylian, and Lar Lubovitch; focus of his work moving from humanity and nature to mind patterns; and Gertrud Kraus' influence on his teaching and processes.
