Summary
"Loie Fuller was once the most famous dancer in the world, but had been relegated to footnotes in dance history soon after her death. Born Mary Louise Fuller to parents who were reluctant farmers during the period of westward expansion in the mid-nineteenth century, she inherited the ambitions of her family's dreams, embraced the emerging technologies of the times, and combined this with a natural talent for performing--all to become a shining star at the 1900 Paris Exposition. Her use of brilliant colors combined with voluminous silk costumes made lasting impressions on artists, writers, and legions of the rich and famous of the time."--Container.
