- Costume designs for characters in the ballet Medea, including the title role (danced by Melissa Hayden), Jason (Jacques d'Amboise or Arthur Mitchell), and their two children, represented by a single figure. An accompanying note indicates that this design for Medea was made for the second version of the ballet in fall 1960. It includes a b&w detail of the front of the costume.

- Birgit Cullberg's ballet Medea, based on the Greek tragedy by Euripides and danced to music by Béla Bartók, was first presented by the Swedish Ballet in 1951. It was restaged by the New York City Ballet in 1958, with Melissa Hayden in the title role and Jacques d'Amboise as her unfaithful lover Jason (also danced by Arthur Mitchell). Lewis Brown, 1928-2011, designed costumes for theatre, opera, and ballet. A native of California, he moved to New York City in the 1950s, and worked for television. Medea was his first commissioned work in the city.
