Summary
In the first half of the program (2:00-3:00 P. M.), host Fred Child talks with Michael Barrett and Steven Blier, the founders of New York Festival of Song (NYFOS). They perform selections from the upcoming 7th annual NYFOS concert (Songs of the Diaspora, 92nd St. Y, 10/28/95) with vocalists Lorraine Hunt, Tovah Feldshuh and Peter Kazaras live in WNYC studio B. In the second half of the program (3:00-4:00 P. M.), host Fred Child talks with award-winning Russian pianist Valery Kuleshov and his wife Kate, about Kuleshov's amazing career, Halloween and his upcoming Carnegie Hall debut concert (10/31/95). Recordings of Kuleshov's performances are played during the program.

Local Note
On CD 2 (1:12-4:29), the 1993 recording of Valery Kuleshov performing Franz Liszt's "La campenella" (i.e. Grandes études de Paganini, no. 3) in the 9th annual Van Cliburn piano competition (Fort Worth, Tex.) was not found on this audio, but Liszt's "Grandes études de Paganini, nos. 4-6" were present on this audio. Kuleshov won the silver medal in that competition.
On track 2 of CD 2, composer Peter Schickele talks with John Schaefer about the WNYC pledge drive special program later in the evening (10/25/95); the full broadcast is available on *LDC 52279.
